Dr. Bahia Al-Salihi is a Licensed Chiropractic Physician (D.C.), Licensed Acupuncturist (L.Ac.), Diplomate in Oriental Medicine (Dipl. OM, NCCAOM).
Dr. Bahia Al-Salihi is a graduate of the National University of Health Sciences in Lombard, Illinois. She received her bachelor of science in Human Biology and her master of science in Advanced Clinical Practice. She earned a master’s degree in Business Administration from Lake Forest Graduate School of Management and a master’s degree in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine from the Midwest College of Oriental Medicine. As a licensed chiropractic physician and board certified licensed acupuncturist Dr. Al-Salihi’s area of expertise is Orthopedic acupuncture and dry needling.
In practice since 1992, Dr. Al-Salihi has completed extensive continuing medical education in Sports Medicine and Orthopedics. In addition, she completed over 6,000 hours of study in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine as part of her master’s degree in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. She is a Diplomate in Oriental Medicine from the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM), which demonstrates proficiency in Chinese Herbal Medicine.
In addition to Orthopedic acupuncture Dr. Al-Salihi also treats internal medical conditions with acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine. She has published several case studies in the peer-reviewed Journal of Chiropractic Medicine on acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine for Migraines, Celiac disease-associated Dermatitis Herpetiformis and Chronic Prostatitis with Pelvic Pain Syndrome. For many years Dr. Al-Salihi worked in a fitness center helping patients overcome musculoskeletal injuries and recover from surgery, through chiropractic, massage therapy and physical exercise. Dr. Al-Salihi is certified as a Health Fitness Instructor by the American College of Sports Medicine and a 200-hour Registered Yoga Teacher. She has taught group exercise, strengthening and conditioning classes. Dr. Al-Salihi was also certified by the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork and performed massage therapy for rehabilitation and lymphatic drainage for post-surgical patients.
Dr. Bahia Al-Salihi has had the privilege of working with the Chicago Sky since 2021.
Philosophy
Complementary Alternative Medicine (CAM), which includes therapies such as chiropractic, massage, herbal medicine and acupuncture, is characterized by a holistic and highly individualized approach to patient care. Its emphasis is on maximizing the body’s inherent healing ability; getting patients involved as active participants in their own care; addressing the physical, mental and spiritual attributes of a disease; and preventive care.
